General Support:

(Q:) My system is acting strange and I get no lyrics, video, or audio no matter what I try??
(A:)

  1. System must meet minimum requirements (P4 1.8 Ghz, 3D Video Card with 64 MB RAM or higher, ATI or nVidia Brand)
  2. For CD+G Users, test your CD-ROM for CD+G Capability
  3. Install a fresh copy of Windows XP
  4. Update Windows XP to Service Pack 2 (all udpates)
  5. Install Updated Video and Audio Drivers (be sure to visit correct websites)
  6. Do NOT update your Windows Media Player
  7. Do NOT install Burning program software
  8. Do NOT install Anti-Virus Software
CD-ROM Drive and ASPI Support:

(Q:) Is my Drive CD+G Compatible?
(A:) Refer to this page for instructions on how to check: Capabilities FAQ 2

(Q:) I can't see graphics or my drives capabilities tell me that my drive is only Semi-CD+G Compatible - what is that?
(A:) Refer to this page: Capabilities FAQ 2

(Q:) I am using XP and cannot see my drivers, my drives are not listed, or one of my drives do not get listed?
(A:) Refer to this page: ASPI Information FAQ

(Q:) I get the following error: "NeroApix...Could not open driver. Trying system aspi", what is it?
(A:) This is your current ASPI informing you that there is already one installed somewhere else - you can do either of the following, 1. If you wish to keep your own ASPI installation then remove the wnaspi32.dll from the Swift Elite folder and then start the program. Or 2. Uninstall the main ASPI and keep the new, refer to this page for more information: ASPI Information FAQ

DirectX Support:

(Q:) How do I check my DirectX version?
(A:) Click Start/Run... , type dxdiag, and click OK. When the diagnostic program appears refer to the System tab beside DirectX Version, any version before DirectX9.0b (4.09.0000.0902) must be updated.

(Q:) I get a D3DX9.dll File is missing warning when the program is run?
(A:) You must update your DirectX version to 9B - visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a9b6820-bfbb-4799-9908-d418cdeac197&displaylang=en for an update.

(Q:) When I simply Load a Deck or try to stop the song the song continues to play, why?
(A:) We have found that DirectX9A (the version before 9B) has various playback and video issues this was the reason 9B came out so soon so be sure to update your to version 9B - visit http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0a9b6820-bfbb-4799-9908-d418cdeac197&displaylang=en for an update.

(Q:) I am using Dual Monitors and the Video Window appears as half and the Preview Monitor is scrabled, why is that?
(A:) Some legacy devices cause DirectX9B to provide surfaces at different ratios causing a problem, download the latest patch of Swift Elite to account for this (note it could also occur with two video devices that use different device units and/or aspect ratios).

(Q:) I get a Build Graph error everytime I try to load an item - say an MP3, why is that?
(A:) You will need to update DirectX and verify that the file is not corrupt or cannot be handled by DirectShow. If you try it Windows Media Player and it fails then it will not work in Swift Elite. It is known that MP3s with Variable Bitrate (VBR) are not supported by DirectShow. Note that some MP3s have ID3 tags that are too large that may affect playback, be sure to remove abnormal tags.

(Q:) I have an ATI card and when I use transitions such as Circle or Star they show up as squares or blanked video, why?
(A:) First be sure to check that your desktop is in 32-bit, that your DirectX is the latest, and Video Drivers are up-to-date. Second check your Display Properties, Advanced, 3D Settings - make sure the 32-bit Z-Buffer Textures are allowed (do NOT disable them).

(Q:) I have an ATI card and the playback on the video window appears like 25% of the screen is missing, why?
(A:) Try enabling the "Alternate Pixel Center" option in the Display Properties/Settings/Advanced/3D Tab to repair the problem.

Video, Monitor, and Playback Support:

(Q:) When running two monitors, I cannot see video on my second monitor. All I see is a black area where the video should be. How do I fix this? (or everything on the screen turns black)
(A:) Certain video cards that use video overlay may not display properly on a secondary monitor when running in dual monitor mode (such as GeForce 6600 Go). To disable video playback on your secondary monitor or TV, Full Screen Video should be disabled. Please follow the directions below to enable Full Screen Video:

1) Right-click on your Desktop and select "Properties."
2) This will bring up the Display Properties control panel. Click on the "Settings" tab and then click on the Advanced button.
3) Click on the tab corresponding to the graphics card installed in your computer. For example, if you are using an NVIDIA based GeforceFX 5700 graphics card, choose the GeforceFX 5700 tab. A pull out window will appear to the left of the panel. Select "Full Screen Video" from the left pull out window.
4) The "Full Screen Video" panel will appear. If you are running in Dualview mode (you must have the second monitor enabled), select "Disable" from the "Full Screen Device" drop down menu (if you only have the options; Mirror, Overlay, or Both please choose only Overlay).
Click the OK button to confirm these changes. You may need to enter the sub option "Overlay Controls" to see this option. 5) If you do not find the "Full Screen Video" option, find the "Video Overlay Settings" and refer to the Zoom Options (Disable).

(Q:) My Video Window Spans the entire two monitors, why and how do I fix this (and my card is from nVidia, i.e. GeForce)?
(A:) Be sure to first update to the latest Detonator package from nVidia.com, then configure your nView Desktop Manager (Windows tab) to No Window Spanning.

(Q:) I am using a Dual Monitor configuration and the Activemovie Window Appears
(A:) Either change your primary monitor resolution to 16-bit, or make sure both monitors (primary and secondary) are set to the same resolution and bit-depth (i.e. 1024x768 in 32-bit quality). Remember to change the resoltuion of both monitors (this must be done one at a time).

(Q:) An Activemovie Window Appears seperately from the video window and I am using Windows 98/98SE?
(A:) Change your resolution to 16-bit or 24-bit bitdepth

(Q:) An Activemovie Window Appears seperately regardless of O/S and I installed the Ligos Filters?
(A:) You may have enabled the "Use Overlay Mixer" option, enter the LSX-MPEG Player Start/Programs menu and run the LSX-MPEG Player Configuration tool then uncheck the "Use Overlay Mixer" option.

(Q:) An Activemovie Window Appears seperately regardless of O/S or Ligos filters and appears for just MPEG2s?
(A:) Your video card support the Overlay Mixer, enter the Display properties and uncheck the option.

(Q:) My Video playback seems choppy and slugish and I am using Dual Monitor displays, what could be wrong?
(A:) You must select the appropriate adapter for the video window, refer to the Preferences/Window Options. Also refer to this page: Video Tuning FAQ

(Q:) I am using Dual Monitors and when I only turn one monitor on and run Swift Elite I get the following warning "Video Adapter Seleted Unavailable - Attempting to use Default!", why?
(A:) If you disabled the second monitor and you have manually selected the Placement options in the Preferences/Window Options then it will attempt to first find that adapter, if it cannot find it then the default adapter/monitor configuration will be attempted.

(Q:) When I run Swift Elite I get the following warning "Video Adapter Seleted Unavailable - Attempting to use Default!", followed by "Could not create the D3D device! Swift Elite is attempting to create a buffer that might not .... Be sure that your System supports Direct3D with Stencils!! .. Attempting to Init with No Stencils (Only Video Fades)." then fails, why?
(A:) If it fails right after and exit the program then your video card is not supporting Direct3D, verify your acceleration settings and your DirectX version (be sure it is version 9B).

(Q:) When I run Swift Elite I get the following warning "Video Adapter Seleted Unavailable - Attempting to use Default!", followed by "Could not create the D3D device! Swift Elite is attempting to create a buffer that might not .... Be sure that your System supports Direct3D with Stencils!! .. Attempting to Init with No Stencils (Only Video Fades)." but continues and the program is working, why?
(A:) Your Video Card either does not support Stencils or your video configuration settings are not compatible - enter your Display Settings (Control Panel/Display Settings), click the Settings tab, click Advanced, find your Direct3D settings and set everything to "performance" then enable every compatibility options (i.e. Z-Buffer, W-Buffer, etc). If running Swift Elite again still yields this warning but the program is still functional, you will simply only have the fade transition (stencil driven transitions will not be available). Note that the most optimal setting is both displays should be set at 1024x768 and 32-bit, and the two monitor positions should be lined up together (positioned side-by-side).

Sound Support:

(Q:) When I select the same sound card device for both decks (rather than using the Default Directsound Device), the crossfade takes over the volume for one deck - why is that?
(A:) Selecting the direct device will force the deck to control the output directly to the card, this means that if both decks are using the same device they will fight for the volume control, If it comes to you using the same soundcard device on both decks, use the Default DirectSound Device - it will allow you to mix the volume levels.

General Support:

(Q:) My programs seem to hang when playing direct from disc, what could be the problem?
(A:) Various things, update your ASPI first off (some versions are unstable). Second verify that the discs you are using are not copy protected (usually the last track cannot be read). And lastly be sure you are playing/extracting with the correct mode (this would also be under the assumption that your drive is CD+G Compatible).

(Q:) My track only plays for 60 seconds why is that?
(A:) You are either in Trial mode and have not activated the program or you have converted content using the trial version.

(Q:) My track plays for about 10 seconds then stops and proceeds to the next track (which also plays for 10 seconds), why is that?
(A:) You probably have INTRO mode enabled for the Deck, click the Intro button and ensure that the light indicator turns off.

(Q:) Why can't I see the output of Deck B on the output monitor, Deck A seems alright but the Deck B only shows the output in the Preview Monitor, why?
(A:) You must Crossfade over to Deck B to see it's output, be sure to slide the Crossfade bar over to the right.

DVD and MPEG2 Support:

(Q:) Does Swift Elite play DVDs?
(A:) The program will play DVD discs but you must first install the codec package that is supplied (Elecard by Moonlight). This will allow the program to play DVDs (Encrypted MPEG2). We supply the trial version of the decoders from Moonlight (Elecard), it must be registered seperately. Note that if you convert your DVDs to MPEG1 you will not require these codecs (MPEG1 is easily supported under Windows).

(Q:) I would like to play only MPEG2s and why do they not play?
(A:) If you intend to only playback standard MPEG2s, we suggest you install the Ligos or LEAD codecs from either ligos site (www.ligos.com) or the LEAD site (www.leadtools.com). Get the LSX-MPEG player from Ligos or the LEAD MPEG2 DirectShow Video Decoder. Be sure NOT to install Elecard unless you require DVD playback and don't install both together. Note that the LEAD decoder is only for video, the audio codec must be obtained seperate.

(Q:) I uninstalled Elecard but it still seems to be there, how do I remove it?
(A:) Download the following file and unzip it, then run the batch file and it will prompt for each of the file filters. Be sure they prompt as successfu. The link to the aid file is as follows: Unregister Elecard Components

(Q:) How do I convert DVD to MPEG1 (rather than MPEG2)?
(A:) To generalize the process, it is two (2) steps. 1. Use DVD Shrink to extract the DVD contents to hard-drive (and reduce the size of the volume). 2. Use TMPEG encoder to convert the MPEG2 generated from the DVD to MPEG1 (VCD format) at 320x252 using highest quality. This is the most optimal resolution and format. Third-party tools are free and not provided by TriceraSoft (use third party tools at your own discretion).

(Q:) What is DivX or similar formats? How do I convert my DVDs to this or similar format?
(A:)There are various formats in which digital video is saved on a computer (such as MPEG, Window Movie Format, QuickTime, etc). These video formats are combined together with an audio format in a container that holds information of how they combine, this may be an AVI or MPG file). DivX is another form of these video formats for playing video on a computer without wasting alot of space on the computer - the idea is to save space with special math that makes it small to store but can be restored for viewing by returning back most of the information, unfortunately the more complicated the math the harder your machine works to restore the information. We recommend you convert your DVDs to a format called MPEG1, it is a format that is not too big and not too intense on your machine (a perfect balance) - you can us a product such as ImToo DVD Convertor to covnert your DVDs.
