Direct From CD+G Disc:
The following TriceraSoft software can play directly from CD+G disc:
- CD+G Disc Player
- WinCDG-Pro2
- Mimic Audition
- Mimic Audition 2
- Swift Elite
- Swift Elite 2
- Swift Elite 3
- Swift Elite 4
To play CD+G discs you require a CD+G capable drive! Note the following:
- Not every CD drive is capable of READING CD+G.
- Some are Semi-Compatible and require the use of the Deinterleave Process
- CD+G capabilities are part of the FIRMWARE of the CD drive. Most drives simply do NOT return the CD+G data
to the computer. If it doesn't there is nothing that can be done on our end. The manufacturer of
the drive chooses whether they support CD+G reading. Please contact the manufacturer of the drive to
request CD+G support be added to their drive FIRMWARE
- Most capable drives are actually CD-RW drives
- Most capable drives are manufactured by Yamaha, Plextor, HP, or Sony
- If your drive is OEM'd from one of the above it MAY be capable
- Check if your drive is on our compatibility list: drivelist.html
- Check the capabilities of your own drive: faq-can2.html
- Most drives that are CD+G CAPABLE are supported by our software (ie: COMPATIBLE with our software)
Our software must "see" the drive via ASPI.
If you attempt to play back a CD+G disc and you get a Black lyrics window the following is possible:
- Your drive is NOT CD+G compatible
- Your drive IS compatible but you have not selected the proper extraction method
- If you are trying to play a Pioneer CD+G, try switching to channel 4
- Make sure you have DirectX version 7 or later installed
What to try...
- Make sure you are running the latest version of the player software.
- Check the compatibility list drivelist.html
- Try different extraction methods: MMC is a generic method that works for most compatible drives; Yamaha/Plextor/Sony methods only work on corresponding drives; Deinterleave will work with Semi-Compatible drives
- Try a slower extraction speed (2x or 4x)
- Update your DirectX and/or Windows Media Player
- Windows 2000 and XP users must install an ASPI driver
If you get graphics, but you can't read them or they are garbled:
- Try a different extraction method
- Try using a slower extraction speed
- Try adjusting the CD+G channel (IE: Pioneer uses channel 4)
If you have audio problems:
- Make sure you are using the latest Windows Media Player
- CD Mode uses the "CD" volume level, CD+G mode uses the "LINE" volume level
- Open the mixer and adjust the appropriate audio level(s)
- Try re-installing Windows Media Player. Some third-party software (such as software DVD players)
may have installed a CODEC to play MPEG files.
