ASPI Installation and Information

What is ASPI and What do I need it For?

ASPI is a driver that is used by our products to access the CD-ROMs. ASPI is made available in Windows 98/SE/ME/2000, but is not available in Windows XP. ASPI must be installed seperately if you do not have it installed or updated on those that do. If you run our products and they do not detect ASPI they will inform you. Follow the instructions to install ASPI below.

How do I install ASPI?
There are two ASPI installations we recommend
Recommended for Windows XP:
Visit this link and save the file into the program folder i.e. if you are installing ASPI for CDG RipperTM and CDG RipperTM was installed in C:\Program Files\CDG Ripper\, this is the folder that it should be saved in:
Run the program and ensure that ASPI is detected.
Recommended for Windows 98/SE/ME/2000
Download the ForceASPI ZIP package at the link below and save it to a temporary folder:
Decompress the ZIP and run the InstASPI.bat, you will need to reboot the machine after it completes for the changes to take affect.
How do I remove (uninstall) ASPI?
ForceASPI includes a script called KillASPI.bat, you can run this and be rid of the appropriate files. Then be sure to remove all instance of the wnaspi32.dll file from your machine. To remove all files manually look for the following files and delete them:
  • wnaspi32.dll
  • winaspi.dll
  • wowpost.exe
  • aspi32.sys
  • aspienum.dll
  • apix.vxd
I don't see all my drives, what is happening?

The ASPI you installed is either not working properly, not being detected, or you already have a previous ASPI installed. Be sure to uninstall all previous ASPI installations and reinstall as instructed above.

I get a System Warning when I run the program after installing ASPI?

You already have ASPI installed and such are introducing a new ASPI into the system - this will bare a warning. Be sure to uninstall all previous ASPI installations and reinstall as instructed above.

I use another program that plays CD+G and your ASPI does not show my drives, why?

There may be an ASPI conflict or some programs find ways to protect the use of ASPI which interferes with normal operations. If you find that a compatible drive (eventhough though listed as having the capability) is playing for only 10 seconds or warns of "ASPI is not registered to this application", please install ForceASPI to overcome this issue. The installation of ForceASPI is noted above.
